Classroom Information
Daily Folders- Empty, check, and review your child's "Daily Folder” each night after school. This will contain your child's daily behavior report, important school and classroom information, permission slips, our A-F day schedule, etc. The letter day is posted in the top right corner of each date box. Your child’s folder will contain a small monthly calendar that will be used to chart to daily behavior. Please do not remove this calendar. Encourage your child to take good care of their folder and remember to bring it every day.
Homework- Your child will bring home their homework every Monday. Completed homework is due each Friday. Extra copies of homework can be found here on our class Weebly and can be printed from home.
Changes in Transportation- Transportation changes must be made via written note or email by 3:00pm. Notes will only be accepted from parents/guardians. If there is no written notice for a transportation change I am legally required to send the scholar home their normal way. Please send all email transportation changes to myself AND our secretary, Ms. Rice. ([email protected])
Field Trips- The kindergarten team has 3 fun, exciting, and educational field trips planned for this school year! Information and permission slips for each trip will come home with your child before we attend. Be sure to check daily folders and monthly calendars for this information AND due dates! All payments for field trips will be made using our new online payment system. More information regarding the payment system will be provided at a later date. Due dates for all money must be adhered to so that all financial obligations can be met before attending the trips. I do not want any students missing out on a field trip because of a missed due date. If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment dates, please reach out to me as soon as possible!
Newsletters- Classroom newsletters will be posted on the first of each month. The newsletter will be posted here on our classroom Weebly and is a great way to let you know what we will be working on as well as keeping you up to date on important events.
Clothing- All jackets, sweaters, coats, lunchboxes, water bottles, and anything else that falls under personal belongs must be labeled in case they get lost. All students must wear tennis shoes on PE day. For student safety, students should not wear flip flops to school.
Lunch Account- Students that buy their lunch from school will use their personal lunch number to pay for their meal. Please be sure to deposit money into their lunch account via PayPams (click here to access). The money will be deducted daily from their accounts. Please check their account frequently to keep it from going into the negative. Kindergartners are allowed to purchase snacks or dessert items on special occasions (parent visits for lunch) and Fridays only. This becomes a special treat that they look forward to. Please let me know if you do not want your child to buy snack or dessert items. Please be sure to contact the cafeteria manager, Mary McGowen, directly if your child has special food restrictions.
Snack Time- Snack time is optional and will take place in afternoon if time permits. Snack time is not mandatory so there will be days that we are not able to have snack time. Students are responsible for bringing in their own snacks from home and only dry snacks will be permitted in the classroom. No "wet" snacks or snacks with juices are permitted in the classroom. Students may bring in a water bottle with a lid that seals and will not spill. Again, no juices are permitted! I am happy to accept snack donations for the classroom (animal crackers, goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, or pretzels). I will store these and provide them to the students that do not bring a snack from home.
Birthdays- If you would like to send in birthday snack to celebrate your child's big day, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. We will share these birthday treats during our recess time. You may send the snack in with your child in the morning or you may bring it in the afternoon. If you choose to send cupcakes, please send mini cupcakes only. Based on CMS policy, snacks MUST be store-bought and in the original packaging.
Toys & Electronics From Home- Students should keep all toys and electronic devices at home! (Action figures, trading cards, etc.) Children get excited about these items and they can become a distraction to the class. Toys that are repeatedly brought to school will be collected by the teacher.
Reading at Home- I encourage parents to read with their children every day. Research shows that reading to children at home positively influences reading success. Your child will have a monthly reading log to chart their reading.
